1. John1 Markham of Stafford Co. VA (#204) was born in Virginia maybe around 1740. John died late Jan or early Feb 1804 in Stafford Co, VA, at age 63.

He married Jane Waller around 1780 in Stafford Co, VA. (Jane Waller is #5941.) Jane was the daughter of George Waller. Jane died 1815 in Stafford Co, VA, at age unknown. Jane Waller wrote her will 22 Aug 1806 in Stafford Co, VA.(1) 29 Sept 1909 Jane made a codicil to her will to note the death of her son James.(2)

He made a will 11 Jan 1804 in Stafford Co, VA.(3) John Markham of Stafford Co. VA wrote his will 11 Jan 1804 in Stafford Co, VA.(4) John's estate was probated 13 Feb 1804 in Stafford Co, VA.(5)

2. Lewis2 Markham (John1) (#5947) was born 7 Oct 1763.(13) Lewis died 26 Sept 1846 in Lauderdale Co, AL, at age 82.(14)

He married Margaret (Peggy) Senter 21 Jan 1830 in Lawrence Co, TN.(15) (Margaret (Peggy) Senter is #5932.) Margaret was born 1780 or 1781.(16) 31 March 1854 she Margaret applied for a widow's pension based on her husband's service.(17)

20 Sep 1855 she was a resident of Franklin Co, AL when, as a widow, she made application in Lauderdale Co, AL for a Bounty Land Warrant.(18)

He was a resident of Farquier County when he enlisted for service in the Virginia Line.(19)

Lewis moved to Stafford Co, VA after the Revolution.(20) Later he moved to Scott Co, KY.

In the 1810 Census, Lewis was listed as a head of household in Scott Co, KY.(21) He was age 45+, his wife was 26-44, and there were two young men and a young woman age 16-25, three girls 10-14, and two boys and two girls under age 10.

Lewis registered to pay taxes 1813 in Gallatin Co, KY.(22) 1815 Lewis was taxed in Capt. Sales' Company in Gallatin Co, KY.(23) 25 April 1818 the Gallatin Co, KY Stray Book recorded that Lewis Markham living on the waters of Eagle Creek two and one half miles above Sanders Mill found a yellow bay mare.(24)

The 1819 and 1820 state census of Limestone County listed Lewis as head of household in 1819 or 1820 in Limestone Co, AL.(25) He was shown as one man over 21, with two boys and three girls under 21.

7 Jan 1833 in Lawrence Co, TN he applied for a pension based on his Revolutionary War service.(26)

7. John2 Markham (John1) (#5944) was born in Stafford Co, VA 1781 or 1782.

He married Susan (Markham). (Susan (Markham) is #6787.) Susan was born probably before 1810. In the 1830 Census, Susan was listed as a head of household in Union Co, KY.

In the 1810 Census, John was listed as a head of household in Stafford Co, VA.(30) He was age 26-44, his wife was 16-25, and they had two boys and a girl under age 10.

In the 1820 Census, John was listed as a head of household in Union Co, KY.(31) He and his wife were age 26-44, living with three young men 18-25, a boy and a girl 10-14, and three boys and two girls under age 10, with a male slave age 26-44. Five persons were engaged in agriculture.

John Markham and Susan (Markham) had the following child:

This man is really one or both of John and Allen, who were undoubtedly the parents of the unconnected Markhams found in the 1850 census of Union County, Kentucky.

15. Thomas3 Markham (John2, John1)(35) (#6758) was born in Union Co, KY 1821.(36) Thomas died 1861 in Morganfield, Union Co, KY, at age 40.

He married America Griggs 1844 in Union Co, KY.(37) (America Griggs is #6759.) America was born 1821 in Union Co, KY.(38) America was the daughter of Minor Griggs and Nancy Culver. America died 1877 or 1878 in Henderson Co, KY, at age 56.(39)

5 Oct 1850 in the Census of 1850, Thomas was listed as a head of household in Union Co, KY.(40)
