He's quite possibly a son of either Lewis Markham or William Markham who were in Limestone County in 1819 or 1820, with three sons between them, although all three were said to be under age 21. In the Census, Samuel was listed as a head of household.⁽³⁾ He was in his 30s, his wife in her 20s, and there was a girl under age 5.

• 6 i. John³ Markham (#6800) was born between 1781 and 1790. In the 1830 Census, John was listed as a head of household in Marion Co, AL.⁽⁴⁾ He was in his 40s, his wife in her 30s, and there were a young man and woman 15-19, a boy 10-14, a boy and a girl 5-9, and a boy and a girl under age 5.

• 7 ii. Lewis Markham (#6801) was born about 1800.⁽⁵⁾ In the 1830 Census, Lewis was listed as a head of household in Marion Co, AL.⁽⁶⁾ He was in his 20s, his wife was age 15-19, and there were two girls 5-9 and two boys under age 5.

  In the 1840 Census, Lewis was listed as a head of household in White Co, TN.⁽⁷⁾ He was in his 40s, his wife in her 30s, with two girls 15-19, two boys 10-14, a girl 5-9, and two girls under age 5. Three persons were engaged in agriculture. While the adults have aged an extra decade since 1830, the ages of the older children match exactly.

• 8 iii. Pleasant Markham (#6799) was born between 1811 and 1815. In the 1830 Census, Pleasant was listed as a head of household in Marion Co, AL.⁽⁸⁾ He and his wife were age 15-19, with a girl under age 5.

• 9 iv. William Markham (#6817) was born between 1811 and 1820. In the 1840 Census, William was listed as a head of household in Marion Co, AL.⁽⁹⁾ He and his wife were in there 20s, with a boy 10-14 and a girl under age 5.
