This page is about the Mitchell family who settled in Whitley County, Kentucky. I'm not really related to this family, except indirectly through a marriage. I've studied them in hopes of locating my great great great grandfather's family Bible.
By 1869, my great great grand uncle, Edmond Franklin Arwood, had settled in Whitley County, Kentucky, where he married a local girl named Polly Ann Mitchell. In 1879, he wrote an affadavit and said he was in possession of the family Bible of his father, my great great great grandfather, James Arrowood of Macon County, North Carolina.
Franklin Arrowood died childless, and the Bible probably remained with his widow, Polly Ann Mitchell Arwood. In 1910, at the age of 64, she was residing with her nephew, George Mitchell, born in 1876. I suppose the Bible would have passed into his family upon her death.
You can follow one of those links to see what I'm talking about, or you can start at the top, with the forefather of the Mitchells of Whitley County, Kentucky.
If you find something interesting here, please let me know, and I'll send you email whenever I change anything in that line. And I'll be happy to receive reports of any errors you may find.
And if you happen to know anything about that old Bible, I'll really be grateful to hear about it.
