The author believes that there weren't really any people who consistently spelled their name as "Erwood," and therefore all public records using this name are actually for someone named "Arwood" or "Earwood." Those individuals directly connected to this collector haven't been re-identified yet.

Ancestor Erwood had the following child:

• 2 i. John² Erwood was born in probably, North Carolina before 1811. He married Elizabeth Alexander after 18 June 1831 (bond date) in Rutherford Co, NC. Elizabeth was born probably before 1813 in probably, North Carolina.

  It's not clear whether he's really and Earwood or an Arrowood. No later record in Rutherford County for either family has been seen that shows a John with wife Elizabeth.
