Millard was born Oct. 29, 1864 in Reems Creek, Buncomb Co Nc.⁽⁶¹⁾ Millard was the son of Athen Lunsford and Sophronia (Lunsford). Millard died May 12, 1962 at 97 years of age.⁽⁶²⁾ His father died while Millard was quite young.⁽⁶³⁾

Solomon was the son of William Arrowood II and Penelope (Ellen) (Nellie) Buckner. Solomon died July 16, 1919 in Locust Grove, NC, at 71 years of age. He enlisted September 14, 1862, for the war, as a private in Company F, 69th Regiment of North Carolina Troops, also known as the 7th Regiment of North Carolina Cavalry.⁽⁶⁷⁾
