A number of Crowder families were present in Rutherford County, North Carolina, in the early 1800s. Probably the Lisey Crowder who was named in a marriage bond obtained there by a James Errerwood in 1805 came from one of these families.
The 1800 census of North Carolina lists the following names in Rutherford County, unfortunately prepared in more or less alphabetical order (all C---- surnames are together) :
Name of Head Males Females
of Household 0-9 10-15 16-25 26-44 45+ 0-9 10-15 16-25 26-44 45+

Robert Crowder 3 1 0 1 0 2 1 0 1 0
William Crowder 0 1 2 0 1 0 0 3 0 1
The 1810 census of Rutherford County was also prepared in alphabetical groups (again, all C---- surnames are together). But perhaps some significance may be attached to names appearing on different pages within the group of "C"s.
