Buck

First Generation

1. Ebenezer1 Buck of Upton (#4794) was born circa 1733.(1) Ebenezer died Aug 27, 1827 in Upton, Worcester Co, MA, at 94 years of age.(2)

He married Mary (Buck). (Mary (Buck) is #4795.) Mary was born 1742. Mary died 18 Aug 1840 in Upton, Worcester Co, MA, at 98 years of age.(3)

Conflicting evidence states that Ebenezer was born in 1740.(4) With others from Worcester County, he enlisted in Captain Barker's Company of Colonel Ezra Wood's Regiment, to serve for nine months from his arrival at Fishkill, June 19, 1778. He was described as age 45, 5 ft. 10 in. in stature, dark complexion, a resident of Upton. A certificate dated Feb 1, 1779, signed by Dr. Josiah Deane in Upton, certified the said Buck to be so lame as to be unable to serve in the army.(5)

Ebenezer was listed on the 1790 Census as the head of a family with another w/m 16+, two white males under 16 and six females in Upton, Worcester Co, MA.(6)

Samuel Buck's book lists a large number of children. I've entered them mostly in the order in which they are listed in his book, except I've rearranged Moses to a point where he would have been old enough to have the family mentioned in the 1790 census.

Ebenezer Buck of Upton and Mary (Buck) had the following children:

Second Generation

4. Amos2 Buck (Ebenezer1) (#4804) was born in Upton, Worcester Co, MA Nov 17, 1769. Amos died July 8, 1859 in Hampstead, Rockingham Co, NH, at 89 years of age.(10)

He married Anna Mitchel June 5, 1805 in Bradford, Essex Co, MA.(11) (Anna Mitchel is #4906.)

Stearns' book says he resided for a time in Bradford, Massachusetts.

Amos Buck and Anna Mitchel had the following child:

Third Generation

15. Capt. Amos3 Buck (Amos2, Ebenezer1) (#4810) was born in Bradford, Essex Co, MA Mar 24, 1808.(12) Amos died Jan 29, 1881 in Manchester, NH, at 72 years of age.(13)

He married Mary Jane Ela Dec 1, 1836 in Derry, NH. (Mary Jane Ela is #4801.) Mary was the daughter of Deacon William Ela and Mary Morse. Mary died April 22, 1879 in Hampstead, Rockingham Co, NH.(14)

Capt. Amos Buck and Mary Jane Ela had the following child:
