1. John J.¹ Barrett, son of John Barrett and Malinda Arrowood, was born in Yancey Co, NC July 16, 1837. See his father's family for more information. John died November 18, 1910 in Pittsburg, Laurel Co, KY, at age 73.

He married three times. He married Mahala Combs August 16, 1863 in Laurel Co, KY.⁽¹⁾ Mahala was born circa 1841 in Kentucky. Mahala died before 1900 in probably, Laurel Co, KY, at age unknown.⁽²⁾ He married Amanda Woodey March 31, 1900 in Laurel Co, KY.⁽³⁾ Amanda was born circa 1862.⁽⁴⁾ Amanda died at age unknown. Amanda was divorced from John J. Barrett. He married Alice Evans June 14, 1903 in Laurel Co, KY.⁽⁵⁾ Alice was born circa 1872 in Kentucky. Alice died at age unknown. She was listed as a resident in the census report June 1, 1921 in Ada, Mercer Co, WV.⁽⁶⁾

John was divorced from Amanda Woodey. In the 1910 Census, John was listed as a head of household 22 April 1910 in Pittsburg, Laurel Co, KY.⁽⁹⁾

John J. Barrett and Alice Evans had the following children:

Barrett is listed as having 3 wives, of which Alice, the latest, at age 38 is said to have been married 6 years before for the first time. It would seem that this Myrtle, listed as daughter, may be child of J.J.'s 2nd wife. Or, she might have come along with Alice.

• 14 xiii. Ella Mabel Barrett was born in Pittsburg, Laurel Co, KY November 1909.⁽¹²⁾ Conflicting evidence states that Ella was born March 28, 1910.⁽¹³⁾

John J. Barrett and Amanda Woodey had the following child:

• 15 xiv. Earnest Lee Barrett was born in Laurel Co, KY January 4, 1901.⁽¹⁴⁾ Earnest died at age unknown.

9. Cordelia (Delia)² Barrett (John J.¹) was born in probably, Laurel Co, KY August 1878.⁽¹⁵⁾

She married Beverly (Bev) Delph circa 1897 in probably, Laurel Co, KY.⁽¹⁶⁾ Beverly was born January 1870 in Kentucky. Beverly was the son of Larkin Delph.

Cordelia (Delia) Barrett and Beverly (Bev) Delph had the following children:

• 16 i. Charles³ Delph was born in Laurel Co, KY 19 Dec 1900. Charles died 29 July 1935 at age 34.⁽¹⁷⁾

• 17 ii. Delbert Delph was born in Laurel Co, KY 16 Jan 1903. Delbert died 27 Dec 1974 at age 71.⁽¹⁸⁾ He married Alma George 19 Oct 1925 in Laurel Co, KY.⁽¹⁹⁾

• 18 iii. Sarah O. Delph was born in Laurel Co, KY 19 Aug 1908. Sarah died 24 April 1949 at age 40.⁽²⁰⁾

• + 19 iv. Renus Delph was born 11 Dec 1911.

• 20 v. Guy Delph was born 19 Jan 1913. Guy died 23 July 1989 at age 76.⁽²¹⁾

• 21 vi. Alfred Delph was born 16 Nov 1917. Alfred died 27 Jan 1918 at age unknown.

19. Renus³ Delph (Cordelia (Delia)² Barrett, John J.¹) was born 11 Dec 1911. Renus died 10 Nov 1940 at age 28.
