1. Rev. James¹ Arrowood of Yancey Co., son of Zachariah Arrowood and Elisabeth Commins, was born in North Carolina, or, South Carolina circa 1803. See his father's family for more information. James died after 1880 in perhaps, Mitchell Co, NC, at age unknown.

He was listed as a household member of Mary (Arrowood)'s house in the Census of 1860 in Washington Co, TN.⁽¹⁴⁾ On 5 June 1862, at Bakersville, James, said to be a 19 year old, 5'6" native of Yancey County, enlisted in the Confederate Army in Company B of the 58th North Carolina Infantry. Company rosters showed him present through 30 June 1863; thereafter no further record was found.

  He was listed as a household member of Joseph Trusler's house in the Census of 1870 in Carter Co, TN.⁽¹⁵⁾

• 16 iv. Elijah Arrowood was born in Yancey Co, NC circa 1846. Elijah died at age unknown. On 14 May 1862, at Camp Jackson, Elijah enlisted in the Confederate Army in Company B of the 58th North Carolina Infantry Regiment. Company rosters showed him present until listed as AWOL on 22 Nov 1863. Later he returned to duty, and then deserted 4 April 1864.⁽¹⁶⁾

3. Elijah W.² Arrowood (Rev. James¹) was born in North Carolina circa 1827. Elijah died at age unknown.

He married twice. He married Elizabeth (Arrowood) in North Carolina. Elizabeth was born circa 1827 in North Carolina. Elizabeth died at age unknown. He married Rose (Edwards) in North Carolina. Rose was born circa 1830 in North Carolina. Rose died at age unknown.

In the Census of 1850, Elijah was listed as a head of household in Yancey Co, NC.⁽¹⁷⁾ In the Census of 1860, Elijah was listed as a head of household in Yancey Co, NC.⁽¹⁸⁾ When the Civil War broke out, he was thirty four years old. July 26, 1861 he enlisted in the Confederate army in Co. G, 29th Regiment of North Carolina Troops. Mustered in as a private, he was promoted to sergeant Jan. 13, 1862. He was captured in Yancey County on an unspecified date, and confined at Louisville until he took an oath of allegiance to the Union on July 31, 1864, and was paroled.⁽¹⁹⁾

5. Joshua² Arrowood (Rev. James¹) was born in North Carolina circa 1832. Joshua died February 23, 1865 in Camp Morton, IN, at age 32.

In the Census of 1860, Joshua was listed as a head of household in Yancey Co, NC.⁽²¹⁾ On July 3, 1861, at the age of 29, he joined the Confederate army. In Yancey County he enlisted in Company "B" of the 29th Regiment, North Carolina Troops. On June 18, 1864, he was captured near Marietta, Georgia, and confined until June 28 at Louisville, Kentucky. Thereafter, he was held as a POW near Indianapolis, Indiana, where he died of chronic diarrhoea at Camp Morton on February 23, 1865.⁽²²⁾
