DRANK CARBOLIC ACID

Lulu Arrowood Tired of Life Kills Herself.

Miss Lulu Arrowood who has been acting as office girl for Dr. J.H. Kauffmann at Dassel the past year, drank carbolic acid Monday evening at the Kauffman(sic) residence and died soon after. She had told the members of the family what she had done, but medical help came too late to save her. An inquest was not decided necessary.

Miss Arrowood was 22 years of age and came from Nevis, Minn., to which place her remains were sent. She was a relative of the Arrowoods in Kingston. There are some rumors afloat as to the causes that lead to this act of despair but not of sufficient definateness(sic) and reliability to warrant publication.

The above transcription was received in email, Richard Steadham to Ralph Clark, 20 Apr 1997, "Obits from Kingston, Minnesota." He got the information from Shirley Borden, who received the newspaper articles from the Meeker County Historical Society.
