1. McHenry¹ Arrowood, son of John Arrowood and Frances (Fanny) Barrett, was born in North Carolina Nov 1828. See his father's family for more information. McHenry died of typhoid fever in 1900 in Buchanan Co, VA, at age 71.⁽¹⁾ His body was interred at McGlothlin Cemetery on Fletcher's Ridge in Buchanan Co, VA.⁽²⁾

He married Elizabeth Street October 16, 1851 in Yancey Co, NC.⁽³⁾ Elizabeth was born circa 1829 in North Carolina. Elizabeth died at age unknown.

In the Census of 1860, McHenry was listed as a head of household in Yancey Co, NC.⁽⁴⁾ On 10 Jan 1864 at Dalton, GA, McHenry was enlisted, evidently with reluctance, in the Confederate Army in Company B of the 58th North Carolina Infantry Regiment. Company rosters show that he deserted 31 March 1864.⁽⁵⁾

In the Census of 1870, McHenry was listed as a head of household in Mitchell Co, NC.⁽⁶⁾ In the 1880 Census, McHenry was listed as a head of household 16 June 1880 in Mitchell Co, NC. He was listed as William Arrowood's father in the 1900 Census in Buchanan Co, VA.⁽⁷⁾

McHenry Arrowood and Elizabeth Street had the following children:

2. William² Arrowood (McHenry¹) was born in Yancey Co, NC Sept 1852. William died in 1900 in Buchanan Co, VA, at age 47.⁽⁸⁾ His body was interred at McGlothlin Cemetery on Fletcher's Ridge in Buchanan Co, VA.⁽⁹⁾

He married Celia Hughes. Celia was born circa 1854 in North Carolina. Celia died of typhoid fever in 1900 in Buchanan Co, VA, at age 46.⁽¹⁰⁾ Her body was interred at McGlothlin Cemetery on Fletcher's Ridge in Buchanan Co, VA.⁽¹¹⁾

• 9 vi. Martha Jane Arrowood was born 15 May 1880. Martha died 4 Oct 1968 in Sedalia, Pettis Co, MO, at age 88.⁽¹⁶⁾ She married Edwin Blackburn Brown in Virginia. Edwin was born 13 April 1874 in North Carolina. Edwin⁽¹⁷⁾ was the son of John Cee Brown and Fannie Louise Blackburn. Edwin died 23 Dec 1933 in Beaman, Pettis Co, MO, at age 59.⁽¹⁸⁾

• 10 vii. David Arrowood was born in North Carolina Sept 1881. David died of typhoid fever in 1900 in Buchanan Co, VA, at age 18.⁽¹⁹⁾ His body was interred at McGlothlin Cemetery on Fletcher's Ridge in Buchanan Co, VA.⁽²⁰⁾

• 11 viii. Delia Arrowood was born in North Carolina April 1883. Delia died 21 July 1945 in Buchanan Co, VA, at age 62.⁽²¹⁾ She married Tom Shortridge. Tom was born 10 Oct 1879. Tom was the son of John Shortridge and Lydia (Shortridge). Tom died 23 May 1957 at age 77.⁽²²⁾

• 17 xiv. Rollins Arrowood was born in Virginia Nov 1895. Rollins died 29 Jan 1985 at age 89. His body was interred at a family cemetery near Roam Mountain in Tennessee.⁽³³⁾ He married Blanche Hughes 24 March 1924.⁽³⁴⁾ Blanche was born 7 Nov 1905. Blanche died 30 June 1992 at age 86. Her body was interred at a family cemetery near Roam Mountain in Tennessee.⁽³⁵⁾

• 18 xv. Hannah Arrowood was born in Virginia March 1897. Hannah died March 1978 at age 81. She married twice. She married Ruley Vance.⁽³⁶⁾ She married Dow Hale.⁽³⁷⁾

3. Tilmon² Arrowood (McHenry¹) was born in Yancey Co, NC circa 1854. Tilmon died at age unknown.

He married Rebecca Hughes March 31, 1872 in Mitchell Co, NC.⁽³⁸⁾ Rebecca was born circa 1859 in North Carolina. Rebecca died at age unknown.

In the 1880 Census, Tilmon was listed as a head of household 28 June 1880 in Mitchell Co, NC.⁽³⁹⁾

Tilmon Arrowood and Rebecca Hughes had the following children:
