In the 1820 Census, William was listed as a head of household in Buncombe Co, NC.⁽²⁾ He was age 26-44, with a woman 16-25 and two boys and two girls all under age 10.

In the 1830 Census, William was listed as a head of household in Buncombe Co, NC.⁽³⁾ He was in his 40s and his wife was in her 30s. The household included a boy and a girl each age 10-14, two boys and a girl age 5-9, and two boys and a girl under 5.

19 Oct 1832 he and John Anderson pledged security for the bond of William G. Anderson, newly appointed constable of Buncombe County.⁽⁴⁾

The ancestry of this James Arrowood is arguable. His descendant, James Fox Bruhl, who wrote often about this line in the periodical, "Familes of Yancey County," assigned no father to him. Other researchers have proposed that the son of William Arrowood was the James who married Lavicia Hunter.

The latter James has two conflicting bits of circumstantial evidence. He was married in Macon County, in proximity to the alternate father candidate, James Arrowood of Macon County. Favoring his descent from William is the fact that, of the two Jameses, only he and Lavicia named a son "William." Opposing that descent is his age, too young to be one of the first two sons of William, but just right to be James of Macon's second son.

For this present James, the argument is by association. He married a sister of his presumed brother William's wife. He also seems to be the only candidate for one of William Sr.'s two eldest sons, who were living before 1820 (one was gone by 1830).

Jamie was the daughter of William Barnett Roberts and Jamesina (Jamie) Fox. Jamie died September 26, 1985 in "Missing Place" no. 1169, at age 76.

Clyde Murphy DeBruhl and Jamie Ruth Roberts had the following child:

• 87 i. James Foxx⁶ DeBruhl (#1270) was born in "Missing Place" no. 1169 October 11, 1930.

  Mr. DeBruhl is an active family researcher, and has served as a genealogical society officer in western North Carolina. He published his ancestor chart in the September 1988 issue of "Families of Yancey Co. NC".

83. Brank⁵ DeBruhl (Belle Zora⁴ Arrowood, Solomon Elbert³, William², William D.¹) (#4900) was born in North Carolina 2 May 1912. Brank died 12 June 1993 at age 81.

He married Mary Evelyn Burnette. (Mary Evelyn Burnette is #4903.) Mary was born 29 April 1913. Mary was the daughter of John Coleman Burnette and Lillie Lou Burgie Shepherd. Mary died Feb 1979 at age 65.
