Ellen Raleigh Dies at Whick At Age of 74
An illness of four years duration culminating in a stroke, proved fatal Tuesday evening, May 7 to Mrs. Ellen Raleigh, who succumbed at 1:30 at her home at Whick. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Christ for 35 years.
Mrs. Raleigh was born in Breathitt County, a daughter of Jasper and America Raleigh Arrowood. She was 74 years old and the wife of John Raleigh.
The Whick housewife is survived by the husband; four sons, Woodrow Raleigh, Vancleve; Hargis and Walter Raleigh, Whick; and Ed Raleigh, Flint Michigan; four daughters, Mrs. Lizzie New, Haddix; Mrs. Linda Turner, Combs; Mrs. America Sebastian, Butler; and Mrs. Martha Herald, Whick; six brothers, two sisters, 44 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted this morning (Thursday) at the Whick Community Church with Rev. Jasper Arrowood, Rev. McKinley Spicer and Rev. Sam Raleigh officiating. Burial was in the Deaton-Raleigh Cemetery with Bob Gabbard's Jackson Funeral Home in charge.
